Miners Sign Import Defender Jake Scott

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are pleased to announce the signing of 2005 born defenseman Jake Scott from the Omaha Mastery U18 AAA team. Scott joins the Miners following an impressive tenure with the U18 team, where he played the past two seasons including securing a third-place finish at the USA Nationals last year.

Scott, who was previously a teammate of recent Miners signing Timy Hanulik, is eager to embark on this new chapter of his hockey career. “One of my short-term goals is to do my best, work hard, and grow my game in Red Lake,” Scott expressed. He further stated, “My long-term goal is to get a college commitment by the end of my junior career and take my hockey career as far as I can.”

As he prepares to step onto the ice for his first year of junior hockey, Scott is particularly enthusiastic about meeting his new team, coaches, and staff. “I’m also excited to see the town and start this journey,” he added.

Known for being a physical and hard-to-play-against defenseman, Scott prides himself on his ability to transition the puck effectively from defense to offense, making him a valuable asset for the Miners.

Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone commented on Scott’s signing, stating, “Jake comes from a very good Omaha Mastery program and has been a mainstay on the U18 team’s backend the past two seasons. He wants to take his game to the next level and is keen on playing Junior Hockey in Canada. We think he has a lot of potential to be a strong two-way defenseman in the SIJHL.”
