Miners, Lakers & Ice Dogs Complete Three Team Trade

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are excited to announce the acquisition of forward Jason Grey and future considerations as part of a three-team trade involving the Dryden Ice Dogs and Fort Frances Lakers. As part of this trade, the Miners send 2006-born Carter Deschamps to the Fort Frances Lakers, who subsequently trade Brandon Gustafson to the Dryden Ice Dogs.

The Red Lake Miners organization would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Carter Deschamps for his contributions both on and off the ice during his time with the Miners over the past year. We wish him the best of luck in Fort Frances as he embarks on this new chapter in his hockey career.

Newly acquired Jason Grey played the last seasons for the Connecticut Chiefs U18 AAA team playing a total of 105 games tallying 47 goals and 67 assists for a towel of 114 points.

Grey shared his enthusiasm about joining the Miners, stating, “my short term goal is to play consistent hockey while contributing offensively and winning the Bill! My long term goals are to develop more as a hockey player and person. I want to keep progressing and moving forward as far as I can and hopefully play college hockey.”

Grey expressed his excitement about the move to Red Lake, saying, “what excites me most about moving to Red Lake and playing is how welcoming everyone’s been so far. I’m excited to be around the town and rink, win some games, and push towards a championship.” He also noted his playing style, adding, “as a player, I model my game after Mitch Marner. Fans can expect a hardworking playmaker.”

Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone commented on the trade, stating, “This was a difficult trade to make, but we believe we are adding a very offensively gifted forward. Jason comes highly recommended and proved during his time in Dryden that he is ready to step into the SIJHL. He is excited to be coming to Red Lake and we are looking forward to seeing him in the Black and Yellow on Friday in Ironwood!”
