Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are excited to announce the acquisition of 2004 born forward Dayden Collier from the Fernie Ghostriders of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL).
Last season, the Medicine Hat, AB native, played a pivotal role for the Ghostriders, participating in 29 regular season games tallying 8 goals and 7 assists for a total of 15 points. In playoffs, he added 5 goals, 4 assists, and 9 points in 21 games, helping the Ghostriders reach the KIJHL’s Teck Cup Final.
Prior to his time in Fernie, Collier played for the Niverville Nighthawks in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and the La Ronge Ice Wolves (SJHL).
Expressing his enthusiasm for joining the Miners, Collier stated, “My short term goal is winning a championship in Red Lake, and my long term goal is to become a firefighter.”
He added that “what excites me most about coming to Red Lake is that I’ve heard nothing but great things about the town and the community.” He also shared insights into his playing style, saying, “Seth Jarvis is someone I model my game after as fans can expect to see a two-hundred-foot player that is reliable in both ends, has good hockey IQ, and loves setting up plays and scoring goals.”
Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone expressed his enthusiasm for bringing Collier onto the team. “Dayden is a player we tried to acquire last season prior to him returning to Fernie. He is good friends with multiple players on our team, and we know he has the type of character we want in our players. He plays incredibly well at both ends of the ice, is strong on the faceoff dot, and will add experience and leadership to our dressing room. We look forward to seeing him take the next steps in his hockey career with the Miners!”
