Miners Acquire Pundyk from Carleton Place

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are pleased to announce the acquisition of goaltender Jackson Pundyk from the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). Pundyk, a 2004 birth year, brings a wealth of Junior A experience to the Miners’ roster.

In parts of three seasons in the CCHL, Pundyk showcased his abilities between the pipes, amassing a record of 23-18-1 with a .900 save percentage. His performance caught the attention of the Miners coaching staff, who are excited to welcome him into an already strong lineup.

Upon joining the Miners, Pundyk expressed his short and long-term goals. He is determined “to improve my save percentage and goals against average for a better overall season.” Pundyk’s long-term aspirations include helping the “Miners win a championship and pursuing a scholarship to continue playing the sport I love.”

Pundyk is excited to come to Red Lake “to have a Junior hockey experience away from my hometown with the Miners and meshing with a strong and passionate hockey club to improve the team and help build my character.” He continued on to say, “I’m excited to play for a really strong organization!”

Fans can anticipate an aggressive, motivated, and athletic goaltender in Pundyk. When asked what fans can expect to see out of him, he said, “I battle to the last second of every play.  I’ll always fight to save every shot I can and do the most to give my team a chance to win every game.”

Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone expressed his excitement about Pundyk’s arrival, stating, “We are very excited to welcome Jackson to the Miners family! An experienced goaltender who has had significant success in a very good league. We believe with Jackson’s acquisition, we have the strongest group of goaltenders in our league.”

The Red Lake Miners are confident that the addition of Jackson Pundyk will bolster their team and contribute to their pursuit of the Bill Salonen Cup.
