Miners Acquire Ryker Watt from Fort Frances Lakers

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are pleased to announce the acquisition of forward Ryker Watt from the Fort Frances Lakers in a trade that involves Brody Lindal and future considerations going to Fort Frances. Watt, who has played 71 games with the Lakers over the past two seasons, brings a valuable skill set and impressive statistics to the Miners’ lineup.

During his time with the Lakers, Watt showcased his offensive prowess, tallying 31 goals and 26 assists for a total of 57 points. His ability to contribute on the scoresheet makes him a valuable asset for the Red Lake Miners as they make a playoff push in the second half of the year.

Watt expressed his goals upon joining the Red Lake Miners by saying that, “I want to come to this team and earn my spot in the lineup and do whatever this teams needs me to do to help win and help bring a Championship to the town of Red Lake.”

The prospect of joining a talented team with a real shot at winning a championship excites Watt the most about coming to Red Lake. He continued to say, “fans can expect to see a hard working, gritty forward who will do whatever it takes to win.” Watt’s determination and commitment to winning will undoubtedly make him a fan favorite.

Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone expressed gratitude towards Brody Lindal for his contributions to the team, acknowledging his great work ethic. Stone noted that Lindal will have the opportunity to embrace a more offensive role with in the Lakers lineup. “First off, a big thank you to Brody Lindal for his contributions to the team. We wish Brody the best of luck,” Stone said.

Regarding Watt’s acquisition, Stone highlighted the organizations belief that Watt is one of the most underrated players in the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL). Stone continued to say, “Watt’s ability to score goals, drive the net, frustrate opponents, and bring a physicality will greatly benefit our group moving forward. He was someone we’ve had our eye on from very early in the season. We think he is a very strong fit with our current group.”
