Miners Finalize Trade With Kenora Islanders

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners announced the trade of Grayson Chell to the Kenora Islanders in exchange for promising left-handed defenseman Darian Sinclair and future considerations. The Miners would like to express their gratitude to Grayson for his valuable contributions to the organization and wish him the utmost success in his new journey with the Islanders.

Sinclair, born in 2005, brings an impressive track record to the Miners. In just six games played, Darian has already showcased his skills with 3 goals, 2 assists, and a total of 5 points. Hailing from Peguis, Manitoba, Sinclair had an exceptional 2022-23 season with the Interlake Lightning u18 AAA team, amassing 9 goals, 12 assists, and 21 points in 42 games.

When asked about his goals, Darian expressed his determination to improve his game in the short term and contribute to the team’s success in the long term. He further added, “I’m excited to get the ball rolling in Red Lake and just start playing Hockey with the boys.” Fans can expect to witness a player who not only possesses offensive threat and goal-scoring abilities but also contributes to the overall team play.

Head Coach and General Manager, Lee Stone, spoke highly of Sinclair, revealing that Sinclair had been on their radar since the offseason. Associate Coach Matthew Ray had identified Sinclair as a potential recruit for the program, and when the opportunity arose, the decision to bring Sinclair into the Miners’ fold was unanimous. Stone said, “Darian’s exceptional skating ability, vision with the puck, and strong offensive skills will be an asset to our program. He will help us exit our zone with possession and has proven he is an offensive threat in our league.”

Sinclair will skate with the Miners this week and will make his debut this weekend wearing #2 against the Fort Frances Lakers. Puck drop is at 7:05pm on both Friday and Saturday; come on down to the Shaft at Cochenour Arena!
