Sikora Signs With Miners

Red Lake, ON – Red Lake Miners Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone has announced the     signing of 2005-born forward Andrew Sikora for the 2023/24 Superior International Junior Hockey League season.

“Andrew is as complete a Hockey player as they come. He is the type of player that is trusted to be on the ice both while trying to tie a game up and defending a lead; a rare commodity in a younger player,” Stone commented about Sikora’s two-way game. “He works incredibly hard first and foremost but he is also a very smart player that compliments any style of player. He’s very strong on the forecheck and     consistently turns pucks over leading to offensive zone puck possession. What impresses me most though is his ability to make plays in small areas where time and space is limited; consistently making small 3-5 foot plays with the puck,” Stone continued.

Sikora, a native of Chestermere, AB, played last two seasons with the Okotoks u18 AAA program tallying 12-21-33 in 66 games played as well as 1-3-4 in 5 Circle K Classic games.

“I ultimately decided to sign with the Miners because they have a new Head Coach who wants to build a great team and I see a lot of opportunity in Red Lake to grow and develop as a player while still being able to compete at a high level. This is an organization I really believe in,” Sikora said after signing with the Miners. “I am an aggressive hockey player who likes to throw my weight around whenever possible and go in hard on the forecheck. I also believe I am a responsible and smart hockey player that is always aware of where I am on the ice while maintaining a high level of aggression and skill. My long term goal is to play college hockey and earn a scholarship to be able to go to school while still playing the game I love,” he explained.

The 5’9”, 163lbs forward is currently skating back at home and will be at Miners Main Camp in early   September. Please welcome Andrew to the Miners family!
