Miners Double Up On Ice Dogs

The Dryden Ice Dogs headed up Hwy 105 following  2 games in the Thunder Bay Area for their third road game in 3 days.  Cole Johnston would start for the Ice Dogs while Kiev Kineshanko got the nod for the Miners.

Mathieu Belanger would open up the scoring at 4:30 finishing off a pass from Ryan Hunter for a shorthanded marker and 1-0 lead. Derek Koivisto would tie the game at 1  43 seconds later firing a puck towards the net that would get redirected and surprise Kineshanko.  Elliot Parker would make it 2-1 Miners right off a face-off beating Johnston with a backhand. Derek Koivisto would spring free shorthanded and beat Kineshanko for his 15th of the season to tie the game at 2.  Jordan Baranesky would notch his 29th of the season at 16:19 to give the Miners a one goal lead banging home a rebound past Johnston. Nic Bolin would beat Johnston with a backhand for his 19th at 18:43.   After 20 minutes of play the Miners lead 4-2 and shots are 13-11 for the Miners.

After a wild first period things would slow down a little in the second. After 6 goals being scored in the first period Mathieu Belanger would score at 12:50 beating Johnston  on a nice feed from Harroun for his second of the night.  After 40 minutes the Miners lead 5-2 and shots are 28-27 in favour of the Miners.

Maxime Collette would open up third period scoring at 7:57 picking up a rebound and beating Kineshanko for his 38th of the season to bring the Ice Dogs within 2.  Brandon Rossetti would finish off the scoring for the night at 13:49 of the third  with a power play marker. Final score Miners 6 Ice Dogs 3.  Shots on Goal Red Lake 38 Dryden 33.  Kiev Kineshanko stopped 30 shots for his 14th win of the season.
