Red Lake Miners Commit to Reid Pitura

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are proud to announce the commitment of Reid Pitura, a left-handed defenseman from Kenora, Ontario. The Miners are excited to have Pitura join their roster for the 2024-2025 season.

At just 17 years old, Pitura has already showcased his talent and dedication to the game over three seasons as a member of the Kenora Thistles u18 program. Pitura has played over 100 games with the Thistles, accumulating 7 goals, 13 assists, and 20 points. His impressive performance on the ice is further highlighted by his 169 penalty minutes, demonstrating his physical presence at the u18 level.

Pitura made his Junior Hockey debut with the Miners this season, making an immediate impact with one goal and one assist in his first two junior A hockey games. His ability to play at both ends of the ice, coupled with his ability to play the body, make him a strong fit for the Miners organization.

When asked about his goals, Pitura expressed his commitment to continuous improvement, stating, “One of my short-term goals is to keep going to the gym and work hard on and off the ice and improve my game. My long-term goal is to play hockey as long as I can!”

Pitura’s connection to Red Lake runs deep, as he has always dreamed of playing for the team since he was a child. With family and friends in the area, he is eager to receive their support and make his mark as a Miner. He promises the fans can expect a player who is always striving to be a good teammate on and off the ice.

Head Coach & GM Lee Stone is thrilled to have Pitura on board, stating, “Reid is a substantial recruit from the NWO area for our program. He has looked great throughout Main Camp, Exhibition, and Regular Season games this year. His familiarity with Red Lake and his desire to be a Miner are an added bonus.” Stone believes that Pitura’s physical presence and strong defensive skills will make an immediate impact on the team, praising his ability to make a good first pass and play on the right side of the puck.

The Red Lake Miners warmly welcome Reid Pitura to their family and look forward to his contributions on and off the ice.
