After two losses at home to open the series The Kam River Fighting Walleye made the long trip across Northern Ontario and up highway  105 to face the Miners at the Cochenour Arena.  After being pulled in game 2 Austin Madge would get the start in net for the Walleye while Kiev Kineshanko would stat for the Miners.

First period action saw some early chances from both sides before Nic Bolin opened up the scoring at 10:34 firing a rebound into an empty cage for his second of the post season.   The Walleye would answer right back at 14:16 when Jonah DesRosiers ripped a wrist shot past Kineshanko to tie it at 1. Mathieu Belanger would restore the one goal lead for the Miners at 18:59 putting a rebound past Madge. With 9 seconds left on the clock Ryan Howe would strip Kersey Reich of the puck and dance out from the corner to beat Madge for his second shorthanded goal of the series to make it 3-1 Miners.

The second period would start with Eric Vanska in net in relief of Madge for the second straight game.  After killing off a penalty to start the period the Miners would convert on the power play themselves when Kenyon Nyman’s shot from the point evaded Vanska at 2:23 for a 4-1 Miners lead.  Carter Albrecht’s second of the post season at  6:14 followed by Belanger’s second of the night at 18:03 would round out the second period scoring.  After 40 minutes of play the Miners lead 6-1.

Kam River would start the 3rd period on the power play but were unable to convert.  With a penalty being called against the Walleye Matt Valley was tossed from the game at 7:09 of the third period for continuing to give the refs his opinion.  Ethan Pool finished the scoring off for the night at 17:38 ripping a one-timer past Vanska for his first of the post season.

Final Score Miner 7 Walleye 1

Miners lead the best of seven series 3-0.  Game 4 goes Tuesday night at the Cochenour Arena.
