Lamoureux Hits 30 in Miners Win Over North Stars

Jacob Lamoureux became the first player to hit the 30 goal plateau in the SIJHL this season scoring his 30th and 31st goals to help lead the Red Lake Miners to a 6-5 win over the Thunder Bay North Stars.

Dylan Winsor opened the scoring at 2:17 of the first period to put the visitors on the board.  Matthew Macpherson tied the game up at 10:52 for the Miners with his 7th of the season.  North Stars would take the lead again at 13:27 courtesy of Dimitri Trahiotis who scored his 14th of the year. There would be no other scoring in the period and the North Stars took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Second period action saw Mason Mowat score his 7th at 9:03 to tie the game at 2.  Just 23 seconds after the tying goal the North Stars would take the lead back on a power play marker from Sam Skillestad at 9:26. Jacob Lamoureux would tie the game up at 3 with his 30th at 10:36.  After 40 minutes of play the game was tied at 3.

Third Period action saw the Miners take their first lead of the night off the stick of Luke DeCorby scoring his 9th at 14:43. R.J. Dickie 6th would tie the game up at 4 at 15:40.  Jacob Lamoureux’s 31st at 16:20 would put the Miners back on top 5-4 before Macpherson would score his second of the night into an empty net for a 6-4 lead at 18:57.  North Stars would make things interesting at 19:52 when Nolan Desjardins scored his 8th of the season with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker.  The last 8 seconds was successfully killed off and the Miners held on for a 6-5 win.

Jack Osmond made 48 saves for the Miners to pick up his 15th win of the season.
