Stout strikes twice as Dryden drops English River

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs picked up two goals and an assist from Eric Stout as his three-point night played a big part in his club’s 4-1 triumph over the English River Miners Friday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Memorial Arena.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Dryden got the jump on English River in the second period thanks to tallies to Evan Walls at even strength at 5:27 and Stout, who struck shorthanded a few shifts later.

Cory Dennis made it 3-0 GM Ice Dogs four minutes into the third before the Miners connected on the power play midway through the stanza compliments of Spencer Milne.

However Stout added some insurance with a man advantage marker of his own later in the session to round out the night’s scoring.

Trey Palermo and Brendan Jay chipped in with two assists each in the Dryden win.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured the GM Ice Dogs by a 44-24 count with Jacob Gnidziejko picking up the victory and Westin Cardwell the loss.
