Stout, Lawrence, Belrose each score twice as Dryden defeats English River

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got two goals apiece from Eric Stout, Wyatt Lawrence and Luke Bellerose to help them defeat the English River Miners 8-4 Friday in a penalty-filled Superior International Junior Hockey League contest at Memorial Arena.

Dryden jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on markers from Samson Mouland and Stout only to see English River counter with tallies from Matt O’Neill and Michael Di Lullo to knot the affair at 2-2 after one.

After Bellerose and O’Neill traded goals in the first half of the middle stanza, the home side struck for two more to make it 5-3 after 40 minutes as Lawrence connected on the power play and Chris Atanas had one at even strength.

Di Lullo pulled the Miners to within one with 10:08 to play in regulation, but Dryden put it away by tacking on three more in the latter stages on the contest to secure the win with Stout, Lawrence and Bellerose all finding the back of the net.

Cory Dennis chipped in with three assists for the GM Ice Dogs.

Dryden outshot English River 56-26 on the night with Isaac Labelle picking up the win and Josh Breznik the loss.
