SIJHL announces suspensions

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Superior International Junior Hockey League Commissioner Bryan Graham announced the following suspensions resulting from a pair of incidents in games played earlier this week:

DEREK MCPHAIL, DRYDEN GM ICE DOGS – FIVE (5) GAMES

Player is suspended under Supplementary Discipline for his actions in a game on Tuesday, Jan. 25 vs. Thunder Bay for incurring a major penalty and subsequent game misconduct for boarding under Rule 6.2 (a) as well  as a match penalty for physical harassment of officials (accidental contact with an official) under Rule 9.6.

The suspension will be served during the following games:

SIJHL Game 114: Wednesday, Jan. 25 vs. Minnesota (SERVED)
SIJHL Game 109: Saturday, Jan. 28 vs. Thunder Bay
SIJHL Game 150: Monday, Jan. 30 vs. Fort Frances
SIJHL Game 120: Wednesday, Feb.1 vs. English River
SIJHL Game 124: Friday, Feb. 3 @ Thunder Bay

SAM CIRONE, ENGLISH RIVER MINERS – THREE (3) GAMES

Player is suspended for incurring a major penalty and game misconduct for head contact in the third period in a game played on Friday, Jan. 27 vs. Minnesota.

Suspension is for two games under CJHL Supplement regulation 1.1 and one additional game under Hockey Canada rule 4.6 (c) for a game misconduct in the final 10 minutes.

The suspension will be served during the following games:

SIJHL Game 117: Saturday, Jan. 28 vs. Minnesota
SIJHL Game 119: Sunday, Jan. 29 vs. Minnesota
SIJHL Game 120: Wednesday, Feb. 1 @ Dryden
