SIJHL announces forfeited games

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that the following SIJHL games involving the Thief River Falls Norskies have been forfeited by the club due to the use of ineligible players.

Friday, Oct. 19 vs. Red Lake Miners
Saturday, Oct. 20 vs. Red Lake Miners

The Norskies had originally won both contests, but now forfeit those four points after using ineligible players, who were not officially registered with USA Hockey.

Two players were not officially approved by USA Hockey, which as a U.S.-based team competing in the SIJHL, all signed players must be officially registered by USA Hockey as well as Hockey Canada before they are deemed eligible to compete.

Thief River Falls thus forfeits the victories they earned in both contests, which in turn will now be credited as 1-0 victories for the Miners.

The statistics for players on both sides from these contests will count however.
