On a crisp January day the Red Lake Miners got on the bus and made their way down the 105 and 502 then crossed the border making their way to Hoyt Lakes where they would face the Iron Rangers for the 3rd time in less than a week. Vince Benedetto would start for the Miners while Nick Corneiliusen would get the bod for the Rangers.
The Miners would get on the board first on a Ty Lawrence shot from the point at 5:51. At 9:57 Stratton Pickett would make it 2-0 on the power play with his 19th. Ryan Patterson would notch his 7th of the year at 16:48 to make it 3-0. After 20 minutes the Miners outshoot the Rangers 23-3 and lead 3-0.
Morgan Venne could convert on a 2 on 1 with Bryce Young for his 6th at 6:5 to open the second period scoring. Young would make it 5-0 shorthanded at 9:13. Spencer Milne would score at 15:12 before Ty Lawrence added his second of the night and 4th of the year before the second period ended. Miners out shoot the Rangers 13-7 in the period and lead 7-0 after 40 minutes of play.
Spencer Milne would open the third period with his second of the night at 1:01. Morgan Venne would add his second of the night at 2:13 before Garrett Wojcicki would get the Rangers on the board at 4:40. Spencer Milne would get his hat trick and 15th of the year at 5:20. Scoring would slow down before Bryce Young notched his league leading 38th of the year at 17:51. Erik Engdahl’s 3rd of the season would finish off the scoring at 19:06. Miners out shoot the Rangers 19–6 in the third and the final score is Red Lake 11 Minnesota 2.
The Goldcorp Red Lake Mines “Hard to Play Against” Helmet would go to Ty Lawrence.
