Red Lake @ Fort Frances – November 24,2018

After back to back wins in a home and home series earlier in the week the Red Lake Miners made their way down the 502 to Fort Frances to take on the Lakers. Matt Booth would get the start for the Lakers while Zach Willms started for the Miners between the pipes.
Miners would get a quick jump when Bryce Young skated up the ice on a 2 on 1 and ripped a wrist shot past Booth at 1:12 for a 1-0 lead. Just a little over 3 minutes later Ethan Stuckless would bang a rebound past Booth to make it 2-0 at 3:16. Stuckless would get his second of the night and 5th of the night on a beauty. Stuckless took a pass from Young at his own blue line carrying the puck up ice and cut across the offensive zone in front of two Laker defenders then ripped a shot past Booth for a 3-0 lead. Bryce Young would make it 4-0 at 18:12 stealing the puck in Fort Frances zone then beating Booth for a Shorthanded goal his 27th of the year. Lakers out shoot the Miners 15-14 but after 20 minutes the Miners lead 4-0.
The Lakers looking to get back into the game took the edge in advantages in the second period. Zach Willms kept the Lakers off the board until 14:46 when Noah Loveday beat Willms on a 5 on 3 man advantage. That would be all for second period scoring. Lakers again hold the edge in shots at 15-8 but trail 4-1 after 40 minutes.
