Red Lake @ Dryden – November 21, 2018

After a shoot out victory over the Ice Dogs Tuesday night at the Cochenour Arena for their 5th straight win over Dryden, the Red Lake Miners head down the 105 looking to make it 6. Carson Murison would get his second straight start for the Ice Dogs while Zach Willms started between the pipes for the Miners.
Miners would get the early jump in the contest at 2:05 when Keegan Tiringer scored his 2nd since joining the Miners on the first Miners shot of the game. Then the penalty parade started. 13 penalties were called in the remaining 18 minutes. Both teams would get power play chances and there was some 4 on 4 situations. After 20 minutes the Miners have the edge in shots 9-7 and lead 1-0 on the scoreboard.
Second period action would see the Miners getting another early goal. At 2:24 just after a power play expired Sean Gula jumped on a loose puck and put it Murison who was down and out for his 3rd and a 2-0 Miners lead. Miners would kill off 4 penalties over the rest of the period. After 40 minutes of play Miners lead 24-16 in shots and hold a 2-0 lead.
In the third period the Ice Dogs would get the early goal. Eric Stout would make it 2-1 at 3:23 with his 12th. Any momentum Dryden got with that goal was very short lived. Just 14 seconds later Bryce Young would add to his league lead in goals with his 24th to make 3-1 Miners. Bryce young would score his 25th under 2 minutes later to make it a 4-1 lead for Red Lake. Dryden had some opportunities but Zach Wilms managed to keep the puck out of the net. It looked like the Miners would walk out unscathed but with just under 5 minutes left to play on ice incidents would occur. Evan Pakkala slew footed (considered the dirtiest play in hockey by many) Michael Dilullo which led to a pair of ejections including DiLullo. Then with Zach Willms out to play the puck he was flattened by Matthew Pitchenese which lead to a 5 minute interference penalty and multiple fighting ejections. Reid manning managed to kick out Willms legs with 2 seconds left on the clock before the buzzer sounded. Make it 6 straight wins for the Miners over Dryden this year. Red Lake Miners 4 Dryden Ice Dogs 1.
The Goldcorp Red Lake Mines “Hard To Play Against” hard hat was given to Shaye Sommerfeld from Drayton Valley AB.
Captain Michael DiLullo was given the yellow “Mucker” of the night helmet.
Miners are 8-2 in their last 10 games and will be a few bodies down for the next game on Saturday in Fort Frances.
