The English River Miners hockey organization is pleased to announce, effective immediately, that they have changed the team name to the Red Lake Miners. After careful consideration and thoughtful discussion, the Board of Directors and membership voted unanimously for the change at the AGM August 7th, 2018.
“This change allows us to have an identity of who we are and where we play. This should benefit the organization with recruiting, corporate sponsorship, and general identification of our location and area. The Red Lake area has been synonymous with the mining industry for over a century and we look forward to representing the area with our new name. We are excited about the future of the Red Lake Miners”, quotes community liaison director Warren Badiuk.
The Red Lake Miners begin their 6th season in the SIJHL with back to back preseason games against the Fort Frances Lakers September 14 and 15th. Season ticket sales are now in full swing and are available from any board member or by contacting the team’s Facebook or Twitter accounts.
