THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars rookie forward Keighan Gerrie has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending Jan. 21.
In a pair of outings last week the 16-year-old Thunder Bay product and youngest player in the SIJHL picked up two points in each of them helping the North Stars skate to a couple of victories.
Gerrie began by tallying twice in a triumph vs. the Minnesota Iron Rangers Wednesday before finishing up with another goal along with an assist in a road decision over the Fort Frances Lakers Saturday.
A point-per-game player in the SIJHL, Gerrie leads all first-year skaters in offensive production with 32 in as many outings on 14 markers and 18 helpers.
Four of his 10 power play points have been goals and he also has two game-winning efforts to his credit.
Also receiving consideration for player of the week honours was Jacob Gnidziejko, (G) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Cody Aarvig, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Spencer Milne, (F) English River Miners; Jack Bernie, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; and Eli Kinsman, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
