THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that Thief River Falls Norskies forward Parker Simonson has been named its CCM Hockey performer of the month for October.
The accolades also include the first nine days of the SIJHL 2017-18 regular season schedule back in September.
In a dozen outings for the Canadian Junior Hockey League No. 1 ranked Norskies, Simsonson produced a SIJHL-best 14 goals along with eight assists for 22 points.
The 20-year-old Bismarck, N.D., product has etched him name on the scoresheet in all 12 games he has played this season, helping Thief River Falls get off to a franchise-record 12-0 start.
Offensively Simonson not only paces the league in tallies, but he’s tops in point-per-game average at 1.83, is tied for the league-lead in game-winning goals with four and shares top spot overall in offensive production with his 22 points.
He also requires just three more markers to surpass the 16 he had last season and through his first 46 career games in the SIJHL, Simonson has scored 30 times and helped set-up 31 others as a member of the Norskies.
Also earning consideration for the SIJHL’s CCM Hockey performer of the month award was Luke Bellerose, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Jared Janke, (F) English River Miners; Jaedin Ness, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Alex Maticic, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars and Mark Sanchez, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
