For the second night in a row the Minnesota Iron Rangers visited the Cochenour Arena to face the Red Lake Miners. Synjen Amende would get the start for the Rangers while the Miners would give AP Cameron Ceci the start.
Michael DiLullo would open the scoring at 12:37 in the first with his 20th of the season. At 16:58 Liam Stalwick would score his second in as many nights to make it 2-0. Elias Thompson would cut the Miners lead in half at 18:28 with his 2nd of the season. Miners had the edge in the period outshooting the Rangers 16-8.
Second period action started fast and furious. A defensive lapse by the Miners gave Elias Thompson a quick one on one chance against Ceci. Ceci was beat high and the game is tied at 2 at 1:23 ending Ceci’s night. Hometown boy Sean Gula would put the Miners back in the lead at 3:47 with his 4th of the year. that goal chased Amende from the crease. Nick Corneiliusen would come in after a big game and was tested soon after entering. Miners would crack Corneiliusen at 15:22 when Bryce Young who has been stymied all night would score his league leading 36th. A pair or quick goals from DiLullo (21st) and Stuckless (8th) in a little over a minute would pad the Miners lead. Miners outshoot the Rangers 19-14 and after 40 minutes lead 6-2.
Synjen Amende would start the third period of the game in net for the Rangers. At 12:22 the Miners Cole Bohnet would score a power play goal to put the Miners up 7-2. as the clock wound down the Rangers would covert their own power play as Josh Baker put one into the net while Benedetto was down and out. At 19:30 Thompson would score his third of the night to make it 7-4. The final 30 seconds would come off the clock and final score is Red Lake Miners 7- Minnesota iron Rangers 4.
Shaye Sommerfeld would be given the Goldcorp Red Lake Mines “hard to Play Against” helmet.
The yellow “Mucker” of the game hard hat would be given to Cole Bohnet.
