Miners’ Young named SIJHL Play It Again Sports Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday Red Lake Miners forward Bryce Young has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 25.

In three games last week, which were all Red Lake victories, Young racked up 10 points on seven goals and three assists.

The 19-year-old from The Pas, Man., started off Tuesday by notching his fourth hat trick of the season and also adding an impressive shootout tally as the Miners defeated Dryden in extra shots.

One night later he tacked on two more markers as Red Lake capped off a home-and-home sweep vs. the GM Ice Dogs.

He then finished off his run with a pair of goals and three assists in a road decision at Fort Frances Saturday.

Already boasting nine games with three or more points, Young currently leads all SIJHL skaters in offensive production with 43 points, including a league-best 27 goals.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Alec Daman, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Ryan Mignault, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Jaedin Ness, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Eric Stout, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; and Joshua Baker, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
