Miners Sign Albertan Ty Barry

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are thrilled to announce the signing of forward Ty Barry for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Barry, born in 2006, comes to the Miners with an impressive track record, showcasing his exceptional skills and dedication to the game.

Last season, Ty played with the Bow Valley U18 AA team, where he demonstrated his scoring prowess by tallying an impressive 28 goals and 25 assists for a total of 53 points in just 34 games played. Prior to that, he spent seasons with the AC Avalanche U16 and U17 AAA teams, accumulating 20 goals and 27 assists, totaling 47 points in 63 games played.

When asked about his goals for the upcoming season, Ty Barry stated, “Short term, I’d like to become a more physical and stronger player, contributing to the Miners’ success during the season. Long term, I aim to break through the college barrier.” Ty’s ambition and determination to excel both on and off the ice make him a valuable addition to the Miners’ roster.

Expressing his excitement about joining the Red Lake Miners, Ty said, “I’m thrilled to move to Red Lake and fully focus on hockey while developing my game to the fullest. The Miners have a great organization, and I believe they will provide the support I need to thrive in junior hockey.”

Head Coach and General Manager, Lee Stone, expressed his enthusiasm about Ty’s addition to the team, saying, “I was instantly intrigued by Ty’s game at the Western Elite showcase in Calgary. He possesses remarkable agility on the ice and a rare ability to make plays on his edges. His offensive instincts are second to none, and he consistently displays exceptional hockey IQ.” 

Coach Stone praised Ty’s exceptional shooting ability, stating, “He has a next-level shot, with his head up, picking his spots. He proved his scoring ability with a remarkable five-goal game at the Showcase.”

While the transition from U18 AA to Junior A will require some adjustment, Coach Stone firmly believes that Ty possesses the skills, intelligence, and work ethic necessary to adapt to the higher level of play. He expects Ty to make a significant impact on the team’s offensive performance.
