Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are pleased to announce the signing of forward Jack Croghan, a talented 2006-born player from the St. Louis Jr Blues U18 AAA team.
In his time with the Jr Blues, Croghan played a total of 14 games, recording 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points. Additionally, he showcased his offensive prowess while playing for De Smet Jesuit High School, where he excelled with 5 goals and 9 assists for a total of 14 points in another 14 games.
Expressing his excitement about the opportunity, Croghan shared, “My short term goal is to get to experience something not many people get the privilege of doing by playing junior hockey. My goal is to have a winning season and work for a championship. My long-term goal is to receive a scholarship through hockey to a college where I could play and receive a good education.” He also noted his anticipation for joining the Miners, stating, “I am excited to go to Red Lake to experience a different environment and culture compared to back home. I am also excited to play with guys who are bought in to get better and progressing throughout the season.” Croghan models his game after NHL star Matthew Tkachuk, mentioning, “He is a guy who will battle in the corners but also make very skillful plays in the zones.”
Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone expressed his enthusiasm for the signing, stating, “Jack came highly recommended by multiple scouts down in the States. After watching video, it was clear Jack was a player we wanted to bring in to Red Lake. He has a combination of size and speed that will cause problems on the forecheck; a very effective F1 disrupting plays. He has the skill to make plays too, and we think he will be a big contributor to our program.”
