Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are delighted to announce the signing of promising goaltender Cameron Mann for the upcoming season. Mann, born in 2007 and hailing from Barrie, Ontario, but now calling Emo, Ontario home, joins the team after an impressive season with the Thunder Bay Kings u18 AAA team.
Mann’s talent between the pipes was evident throughout the previous season, where he played 24 games and showcased his skills with a commendable 4.24 goals against average (GAA). Prior to last season, Mann also demonstrated his abilities during his time with the Kenora Thistles, tallying a remarkable 2.92 GAA in 12 games.
Excited for the challenges ahead, Mann expressed his aspirations, stating, “Some of my short-term goals are to have a great year and win the SIJHL. My long-term goals are to play the best hockey I can and just keep playing for as long as I can. I’m excited to move to Red Lake, meet all the people, and be a part of the family.”
Known for his composed and relaxed demeanor on the ice, Mann is expected to bring a well-positioned presence to the Red Lake Miners’ goaltending unit. When asked about his decision to sign with the Miners, Mann highlighted the community of Red Lake and the coaching staff as key factors in his choice.
Head Coach & General Manager Lee Stone spoke highly of Mann’s potential, stating, “Cam was a goalie we had on our radar prior to this season, and after watching his game at the NWO Showcase, we knew he was ready for the jump to the SIJHL. He has the potential to play hockey for a long time, and we are excited to help him develop and realize that potential.”
