Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are pleased to announce the signing of 2005 born forward Will Porter from the Vermilion Tigers of the NEAJBHL. Porter brings a wealth of talent and experience to the team, having played two seasons of u18 AAA with the Lloydminster Bobcats before joining Vermilion.
Last season with the Tigers, Porter tallied an impressive 15 goals, 13 assists, and 28 points in just 25 games.
Porter expressed his excitement about joining the Miners, stating, “My immediate short-term goal is to come to Red Lake and win a championship.” He also shared his long-term ambition, saying, “While my long-term goal is to go to college and work towards a degree while playing Hockey.”
When asked about what he is most excited about, Porter enthusiastically said, “I’m most excited about being able to go to a rink with fans cheering loud and ready to win every night.” He also explained his decision to sign with the Miners, stating, “I chose to sign with the Miners because it’s going to be a good group of guys. Everyone seems willing to work hard and give it their all.” Porter added, “Fans will see a hardworking, hard-hitting forward with lots of speed!”
Head Coach and GM Lee Stone is confident in Porter’s abilities, stating, “Will has been a player that has been on my radar for a couple of seasons now. His experience in Junior B last season will help him with the transition as he has played a physical game against older players.” Stone also believes that Porter will make an immediate impact on the team, both physically and offensively, saying, “We think Will should step into our lineup and make an immediate impact both physically and offensively.”
