Miners Sign Euan Morrison

Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are pleased to announce the signing of Euan Morrison, a standout player from Nanaimo, BC. The 2004-born forward joins the Miners after a successful season with the Melville Millionaires, where he notched 9 goals and 8 assists for a total of 17 points in 48 games.

Morrison expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Miners, stating, “my short-term goals are to put the work in day in, day out to become a better player while winning a championship in Red Lake to compete at the Centennial Cup.” Morrison’s hopes to following in his Dad’s footsteps and “head overseas and have a successful European hockey career like my Dad did!”

Morrison is excited to be part of a team committed to player development. “I’m excited to be playing for a team dedicated to developing players and helping them move on to the next level,” he added. Known for his hard-nosed style of play, he admires NHL star Matthew Tkachuk. “Fans can expect to see a hard-nosed player in the corners who likes to create offense down low in the offensive zone,” Morrison noted.

Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone shared his thoughts on the signing: “Mo is a player I’ve been fortunate enough to know since he was fifteen years old. I watched how hard he worked day in and day out from age fifteen to seventeen, and it has directly led to his success in the SIJHL and SJHL since.”

Stone further emphasized Morrison’s character and skill set, saying, “He is a lead-by-example type; he isn’t afraid to get to the hard areas of the ice and has the skill to capitalize on the chances he creates. It’s hard to state how incredibly valuable his experience, both winning the SIJHL and participating at the Centennial Cup, are to our group.”
