THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that English River Miners forward Jacob Siebenga has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending February 11.
In a pair of games last week the 18-year-old Surrey, B.C. product scored in both of them and amassed eight points in total helping English River skate to a pair of victories while extending a winning streak to four in a row.
Siebenga began by notching the game-winning goal and adding an assist Saturday as the Miners defeated Fort Frances.
He then followed that up with another tally while doling out five helpers to match a league single-game high this season of six points as English River completed a weekend sweep of the Lakers Sunday.
Currently riding an eight-game point streak, Siebenga has played at over a point-per-game pace since joining the club in early November.
Through his first 26 SIJHL contests, Siebenga has scored 11 times and helped set-up 25 others for English River with his 36 points putting him second in league rookie scoring.
