Miners Score 8 in win over Ice Dogs

The Dryden Ice Dogs made the trip north on the 105 up to the Cochenour Arena looking to close the point gap in the SIJHL standings. Ryley Gross would get the nod in net for the Ice Dogs while Kiev Kenishanko would make his second start of the sesaon for the Miners.

The Miners would get on the scoreboard first when Nic Bolin redirected a Jaydon Ryan point shot past Gross at 2:18.  Jake Parker making his Miners debut made it 2-0 Miners on the powerpaly ripping one past Gross for his first as a Miner and also his first Junior ‘A’ goal at 7:34. Noah Kramps kept the Miners rolling at 10:39 converting a Nic Bolin pass beating Gross 5 hole for his second of the season.  Lucas Piekarczyk put the Miners up by 4 at18:10 scoring his 8th of the season and ending the night for Gross at the same time.  After 20 minutes of play the Miners lead 4-0 and outshoot the Ice Dogs 13-9.

Derek Koivisto would get the Ice Dogs on the scoreboard banging a rebound past Kenishanko at 2:37.  Just 21 seconds later Max Rath would score his first of the season when his point shot hit a Miner in front and redirected past a helpless Kenishanko to make it 4-2.  Tristan Takats would pull the Ice Dogs within 1 with a power play goal at 6:51.  Geoff Walker used his timeout to try and regroup his troops right after the goal.  Whatever was said on the Miners bench would work  as Carter Albrecht would tip an Adam Ferriera point shot past Belley at 8:32. Lucas Piekarczyk would score his second of the night finishing off some nice passing from Harroun and Baranesky at 10:11. Elliot Parker would put the Miners up by 4 for the second time of the night at 16:09 converting a pass from Mallet for his third of the season.  After 20 wild second period minutes the Miners lead 8-4 on the scoreboard and shots were tied at 22.

Starting a period for the second time tonight with a 4 goal lead and a man advantage seemed to be a problem for the Miners.  Just 8 seconds into the period Max Collete broke in all alone and beat Kenishanko for his league leading 11th goal.  This time the Miners wouldn’t step back.  After killing off a full 2 minute 5 on 3 man advantage for the Miners then a second 2 minute minor shortly after  Carter Albrecht would finish of the nights scoring  with his second of the game at 9:30.  Final score Miners 8 Ice Dogs 4. Kiev Kenishanko picked up his second win     stopping 33 of 37.
