Miners Rout Lakers 6-1

The Fort Frances Lakers made the trek up highway 105 to the Cochenour Arena for the first time the season to take on the Miners. Ethan Hein would get the start in net for the Lakers while Kiev Kineshanko would get the start for the Miners.

First period action was sloppy on both sides of the ice.  The Lakers held a shot advantage of 9-8 for shots but neither team could beat the goalies. After 20 minutes the game heads into the intermission in a scoreless tie.

The Lakers would open up the game scoring at 13:09 of the second period.  Former Miner Ty Milgate won the draw back to Connor O’Brien who beat Kineshanko for his first SIJHL goal. O’Briens goal woke up the Miners who would reply 52 seconds later. Jake Parker’s second goal as a Miner would tie the game at 1.   1 minute later Brady Harroun would rip one past Hein to put the Miners up 2-1. Noah Kramps would put the Miners up 3-1 finishing off a beauty passing sequence at 18:54.  After 2 full periods the Miners lead 3-1 on the scoreboard.

Lucas Piekarczyk would score early in the third period beating Hein for his 11th at 1:17.  Jordan Baranesky scored his 13th of the year  on the power play at 5:18 to give the Miners a 5-1 lead.  Elliot Parker would finish off the Miners scoring at 13:39 beating Hein for his 4th of the season.  Kiev Kineshanko would shut the door the rest of the way for the Miners picking up his 5th win of the season.
