Miners’ Howe tabbed SIJHL Play It Again Sports Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Red Lake Miners forward Ryan Howe has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 24.

In two outings during the time frame, the 18-year-old Caledon, Ont., product racked up six points in a pair of Red Lake victories.

Howe began by tallying twice, including collecting the game-winner, and added an assist as the Miners defeated visiting Wisconsin Tuesday.

He then notched another marker and doled out two helpers in his club’s home ice triumph over league-leading Thunder Bay Saturday.

Entering play this week, Howe leads all SIJHL rookies in offensive production with 26 points in 20 games on nine tallies and 17 assists.

His point total also ties him for fourth overall among all league skaters.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours were MacKenzie Flett, (D) Fort Frances Lakers; Justin Pitari, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Isaac Baron, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Dalton Garcia, (F) Wisconsin Lumberjacks and Jacob Anttonen, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.
