Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are excited to announce the signing of goaltender Trent Boryszczuk. Born in 2004, he will be rejoining the team after a stint with the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in the NOJHL. Boryszczuk is not only familiar with the Miners organization but also has a strong connection to the Red Lake community as a former player.
Boryszczuk has proven himself as a formidable presence in the Miners crease, tallying a record of 9-5-1 and an impressive .919 save percentage over 16 games in the past two seasons. His performance included a standout win against the Kam River Fighting Walleye during the 2023-24 season opener.
“I’m thrilled to be back in Red Lake,” said Boryszczuk. “My short-term goals are to have a great season, win the league, and make some noise at the Centennial Cup. As an older guy, I want to establish a good relationship with my teammates early and be there if anyone needs anything.”
Boryszczuk also has ambitious long-term aspirations. “My long-term goal is to play NCAA Hockey and travel the world to play hockey in Europe,” he shared.
What excites him most about returning to Red Lake is the opportunity to be part of a passionate and close-knit community. “I’m very excited to play for a loud, packed Cochenour Arena,” he added.
Miners fans can expect to see an agile and competitive goaltender who thrives under pressure. “They can expect a very quick, fast, and athletic goalie who is always battling for every single puck. I have experience in big games and love the pressure, and I’m committed to giving my team a chance to win every night,” Boryszczuk stated.
Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone expressed his enthusiasm for bringing Boryszczuk back to the Miners. “We are very familiar with Borzy here in Red, and when the opportunity arose to bring him back, we felt he would greatly improve our hockey club. He is a gamer who wants to be part of a winner in his 20-year-old season.”
Stone also highlighted the positive impact Boryszczuk will have in the dressing room. “We know he will fit in well, bringing energy and confidence to our group that we are excited to see in action.”
The Red Lake Miners welcome Trent Boryszczuk back to the team and look forward to an exciting season ahead.
