Red Lake, Ontario – The Red Lake Miners are pleased to announce the acquisition of 2004-born forward Flynn Maxcy from the Melville Millionaires of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).
Maxcy, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, has made his mark on the ice this season, playing in 7 games for Melville and contributing 1 goal and 1 assist. Last season, he showcased his scoring prowess with 11 goals and 10 assists for a total of 21 points in 35 games. Maxcy is a seasoned player with SJHL 79 games under his belt, bringing valuable experience to the Miners.
“I wanted to be a Miner because I’ve heard great things about the team and community, and I wanted to go somewhere to win in my twenty-year-old season,” Maxcy stated. “I am a shoot-first player that brings a physical edge and good awareness on the ice. A player I try to model my game after is Mark Scheifele from the Winnipeg Jets.”
Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone expressed enthusiasm about the addition of Maxcy to the team. “Flynn is a dynamic offensive player that isn’t afraid to mix it up and play a gritty game. His offensive ability should help us score goals at both 5 on 5 and on the power play. He’s committed to winning and is confident in his ability. We think he will be an instant impact player for our program and are excited to see him in the lineup this weekend.”
