Milne and Baranesky lead Red Lake over Dryden

RED LAKE, Ont. – The Red Lake Miners saw Spencer Milne and Jordan Baranesky tally twice to help lead their side to an eventual 6-4 decision over the Dryden GM Ice Dogs in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Tuesday night at Cochenour Arena.

Keilan Toews got things going offensively for the Miners 7:15 into the contest as he connected on a man advantage opportunity.

Dryden came right back though, less than a minute later, to knot the affair at 1-1 compliments of Jesse Mistelbacher, who tallied in his SIJHL debut.

Milne then put the hosts back on top a couple of shifts later with his first of the night, only to see Evan Pakkala pick up his 10th for the GM Ice Dogs by striking on the power play.

In the middle session, Baranesky then scored twice just over three minutes apart to give the Miners a 4-2 lead.

Battling back again, Dryden saw Josh Weber whip in his 14th at 15:37 to bring the guests back to within one after two periods of play though.

In the third though, Red Lake would put the game away, as Milne, with his team up a skater, and Hunter Halcrow at even strength clicked to secure the Miners victory.

Shots on goal favoured the GM Ice Dogs 36-23 with Zach Willms getting the win while Knute Loe suffered the defeat.
