Matthew Ray Joins Miners Coaching Staff

RED LAKE, ON – The Red Lake Miners are please to announce the hiring of Matthew Ray as the             organization’s Associate Coach. The 26-year-old Thunder Bay native and Miners alumnus brings a deep understanding of the team and the community.

“What I look forward to most about moving to Red Lake is the natural beauty the town and surrounding areas have to offer. The people of Red Lake and Ear Falls are amazing, and I know first-hand from the time I spent with the Miners in my playing days while they were in Ear Falls,” said Ray.

Ray’s passion for the game and commitment to player development make him an ideal fit for the Miners organization. “I believe the Miners organization is the best fit for myself because they give me the        opportunity to grow as a coach and as a person,” he added.

Known for his ability to adapt to each player’s needs, Ray is dedicated to fostering a positive and             respectful environment on and off the ice. “Players can expect a coach that adapts well to each               individual player’s needs while expecting the same level of respect as I would give to the players,” he said.

Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone expressed his excitement about the new addition to the coaching staff. “I’m very excited to make this announcement as Matt will be a key part of our             Championship goals this season,” said Stone. “He has a good understanding of the area and is a Miners alumnus. His experience at the Jr B level with Schreiber will benefit him in the jump to the SIJHL.”

With Ray’s expertise and familiarity with the organization, the Red Lake Miners are confident that he will contribute significantly to their pursuit of the Bill Salonen Cup Championship.
