Iron Rangers @ Miners – March 6,2018

The Minnesota Iron Rangers made the trip up Hwy 105 for their first game of 4 in 4 days to take on the English River Miners. Tyler Thompson would get the start for the Iron Rangers while Westin Cardwell would get the call in net for the Miners.
English River would get the early jump in the game at 5:16 when Landon Russell took the puck end to end and banged his own rebound home for his 4th goal of the season. Red Lake’s Jordan Baranesky would make it 2-0 at 16:38 beating Thompson with a backhand. Ryan Patterson would make it 3-0 at 17:45 on a nice finish on a Dante Tisi slap pass for his 6th of the year. Mihali See would quiet the crowd just 10 seconds later scoring his 9th of the season before the Miners goal was announced. After 20 minutes the Miners would hold the edge in shots 15-13 and lead 3-1.
Just 2:09 into the second period Same Cirone beat Thompson to make it 4-1 and end Thompson’s night. Jaeger Reed would come in for relief seeing his first Junior ‘A’ action. After saving the first 3 shots he faced Reed would get beat by Jacob Siebenga at 4:48. The short handed marker was Siebenga’s 17th of the season setting a new franchise record for rookie goals in a season. Mihali See would get his second on the night and 10th of the season on the power play at 13:58.Cody Milgate would score his 3rd of the season at 15:02 to make it 6-2 Miners. Max Sturco would score his 4th of the season on the power play with just 11 seconds left in the period to make the score 6-3. Shots on goal in the second period favoured the Miners 15-12.
Starting the third period on the power play Zac Horn would score his 15th of the season 44 seconds into the period to make it 6-4. Stratton Pickett would notch his 8th of the season at 6:13 to make it 7-4 Miners. Pickett would score his second of the night at 17:24 to finish the scoring off for his 9th of the season and 4th point of the night. Final score English River Miners 8 Minnesota Iron Rangers 4.
