Red Lake, ON – The Red Lake Miners are excited to announce the signing of 2004-born forward Kai Hughes for the upcoming season. Hughes, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, joins the Miners after a successful stint with the Port Moody Panthers of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL).
In his most recent season, Hughes tallied 15 points (9G, 6A) in 32 games, showing his potential to contribute both with and without the puck.
“I chose to sign with the Miners because it’s a well-established organization with great fans and is a team that wants to win,” said Hughes. “I’m most looking forward to meeting the team and playing in a great hockey atmosphere and having a successful season with the Miners winning the Bill Salonen Cup!”
Red Lake Miners’ Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone shared his enthusiasm about the new addition to the team. “Kai has established himself as an experienced player in Junior Hockey in BC and is ready to pop offensively,” Stone said. “He brings size and strong skating ability to the fold. We believe he is ready to produce offensively at our level.”
Hughes’ addition to the roster is anticipated to strengthen the Miners’ offensive line-up and bring a new level of energy to the team.
