For the last time in the regular season the Fort Frances Lakers made the trip up the 105 to the Cochenour Arena to take on the Red Lake Miners. Jacob Gnidziejko would get the start for the Lakers in net while Vince Benedetto would get the nod for the Miners.
Miners open up the scoring at 12:22 on the PP when Stratton Pickett picked up his 24th of the year. Miners would make it 2-0 when Keilan Toews took advantage of a turnover and beat Gnidziejko for his 3rd of the year. After 20 minutes of play the Miners hold a 13-12 edge in shots and lead 2-0.
At 8:19 of the second Brett Hahkala would beat Benedetto for a PP marker to cut the Miners lead in half. Miners would answer back with a pair of PP tallies. Dante Tisi would score his 6th of the year at 11:21 then Jackson Stephens would score at 12:47 his second of the year to make it 4-1 Miners. Hahkala would add his second of the night at 16:47 to make it a 2 goal game again. That would be it for scoring in the second period. Shots on goal were 14-12 Miners in the second and after 40 minutes the Miners lead 4-2.
Jaedin Ness would wast no time scoring his 19th of the year just 18 seconds into the third period to open up scoring. Miners would come back at 4:57 Michael DiLullo beat Gnidziejko with a wrist shot for his 32nd of the year. Kyle Uzelman would follow that up at 7:44 with his 18th. Sloppy defence would cost the Miners as Fort Frances would make a game of it . Brett Hahkala would notch his hat trick at 15:30 then Isaac Baron followed that up with a great solo effort for his 13th at 16:15. The Miners would clamp down and kill off the last part of the period and hold on for the win.
The Goldcorp Red Lake Mines – Hard to Play Against helmet would go to Dante Tisi who had a great game.
The yellow “Mucker of the Night” helmet would go to Tucker Evans who played a strong physical game.
