The Fort Frances Lakers made the long trek up the 502 then the 105 to the Cochenour Arena for the first game of a 2 day home and home matchup. Jacob Gnidziejko would start for the Lakers while the Miners would give the start to Zach Willms.
The Lakers would get the early jump scoring on the their first shot of the night at 1:43. Miners would tie it up at 5:50 on a Dante Tisi point shot that found its way to the back of the net. At 9:14 Bryce Young would give the Miners the lead beating Gnidziejko with a quick shot. Caleb Paisley would make it 3-1 taking advantage of a turnover then beating Gnidzeijko. After 20 minutes the shots are 13 and the Miners ahem a 3-1 lead.
The Miners would keep things rolling in the second period. After the first 10 minutes went by scoreless the Miners would score there more in 2 and 1/2 minutes. Stratton Pickett’s 15th of the year on the power play would make it 4-1 Miners. Just 24 seconds later Connor Jacobs 3rd of the season would make it 5-1. Spencer Milne would score his 9th of the year, short handed at 12:34 to make it 6-1. Fort Frances would get one more before the period finished. After 4 minutes of play the shots are tied at 26 but the Miners lead 6-1.
After a feisty 2nd period things slowed down. Cole Allan would make it 6-3 Miners at 10:28. Bryce Young’s 32nd at 18:38 would ice it for the Miners. Final Score Miners __ 7, Fort Frances Lakers 3,
