On a frigid Northern Ontario night the Dryden Ice Dogs made the trip up the 105 to the Cochenour Arena to take on the Red Lake Miners. Jacob Anthony would get the start in net for the Ice Dogs while Jr ‘B’ call up Cameron Ceci would start for the Miners.
Miners would strike first 4 minutes in when Michael DiLullo would pull the puck out of a scrum behind the net and beat Anthony with a backhand for his 24th of the season. Evan Pakkala’s 6th of the season would tie the game at 1 at 8:30. Jacob Siebenga would make it 2-1 Dogs at17:32 before Trygve Many Guns would score a late power play goal at 19:30 for a 3-1 Ice Dogs lead. Shots on goal after 20 minutes Dryden 14 Red Lake 12.
Eric Stout’s 21st at 5:55 would put the Ice Dogs up 4-1 early in the second period. Bryce Young would pull the Miners closer at 9:29 beating Anthony with a wrist shot. Miners out shoot the Ice Dogs 11-9 in the period but trail 4-2 after 40 minutes.
Ethan Stuckless would out a rebound home at 5:40 for his10th of the season to pull the Miners within one. At 10:47 Dante Tisi would spark his team while sticking up for a teammate. Despite giving up 6 inches and 60 pounds Tisi got into a spirited fight with Trygve Many Guns coming to the defence of a Miner who was hit up high. This sparked the Miners bench and Bryce Young would tie the game up on the following power play with his 42nd of the year. Both goalies would shut the doors and this game would head to overtime.
With 11 seconds left on the clock in overtime Ryan Brandt would take a back door pass and finish of a beauty for the winner.
