DRYDEN, Ont. – Dryden GM Ice Dogs goaltender Jacob Anthony turned aside all 30 shots he faced to register his first Superior International Junior Hockey League shutout while his teammates scored four times on the power play en route to a 6-0 win over the visiting Red Lake Miners Wednesday evening at Memorial Arena.
Malcolm Huemmert got the GM Ice Dogs going offensively as he opened up the scoring just past the four-minute mark of the first period with assists going to Braden Shea and Trey Palermo.
Dryden then went up by a pair later in the frame as Evan Pakkala collected his seventh of the campaign at 14:04.
Special teams helped the home side extended their cushion in the middle stanza as Eric Stout and Jacob Siebenga both connected while up a skater to make it 4-0 after two periods of play.
The GM Ice Dogs then put the game away in the third tacking on two more with the man advantage, less than a minute apart, midway through the stanza as Stout added his second of the night and 23rd overall while Shea slammed in his 11th.
Dryden captain Palermo finished with a trio of assists in the victory.
Anthony did the rest to come away victorious in his third straight start for Dryden.
Red Lake goalkeeper Vince Benedetto was peppered with 60 shots against in defeat.
