Red Lake @ Fort Frances – November 16, 2018

The Red Lake Miners with a fresh new set of black away uniforms travelled down the 502 to Fort Frances to take on the Lkaers at the Ice For Kids Arena. After sitting out a game Zach Willms would get the start for the visitors while Jacob Gnidziejko would start for the Lakers.
Miners would get the early jump when Michael DiLullo finished of a pass from Morgan Venne for his 9th of the year at 4:44. Red Lake would kill off 3 penalties before getting a power play of their own with 30 seconds left in the period. Shots on goal after 20 minutes are 13 to 7 for the Lakers but the Miners lead 1-0.
Second period action saw the Miners kill off a couple more penalties and the game start to get a little more physical. At 15:35 just after killing off a penalty newly acquired Keegan Tiringer would score his first SIJHL to give the Miners a 2-0 lead. Just over a minute later Nick Hahkala was wide open in the slot and beat Willms to cut the lead to 2-1. Lakers would kill off a late penalty and after 40 minutes the Lakers hold the edge in shots at 26-16 but trail the Miners 2-1.
Just 10 seconds into the 3rd period Bryce Young wearing #21 in the new blacks would notch his 20th of the season on a feed from Shaye Sommerfeld. At 6:06 Sommerfeld would make it 4-1 Miners with his 3rd of the season. Morgan Venne would beat Gnidziejko on a beauty solo effort at 7:16 to make it 5-1 Miners. 3 goals in the first 7:16 of the period would “Suck the Life” out of the Fort Frances home crowd according to their announcer. The rest of the third period was run out and after 60 minutes of play the final score is Red Lake Miners 5 Fort Frances Lakers 1. Zach Willms would stop 35 shots for his 8th win of the year while Gnidziejko took the loss.
The Goldcorp Red Lake Mines “hard to Play Against” Hard Hat would go to Zach Willms allowing 1 goal on 36 shots.
Bryce Young would be given the yellow “Mucker” of the night helmet sparking the team up with an early 3rd period goal to get things rolling.
