3-point nights for Herringer & Siebenga as Miners get past Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – Nic Herringer and Jacob Siebenga had three points apiece Saturday night to help lead the English River Miners to a 5-2 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

English River started strong and grabbed a 2-0 lead after one period of play on markers by Herringer and Sam Cirone.

Minnesota cut into the deficit with the lone tally of the middle frame as Zac Horn found the back of the net just 43 seconds into the session.

The Miners’ Ryan Patterson and Horn would trade tallies 15 seconds apart in the third to make it 3-2 for the visitors before Siebenga at 14:54 and Herringer into an empty net late finished off the evening’s scoring.

Brody Jennings chipped in with two assists for English River.

Michael Lenko made 22 saves to pick-up the win for the Miners while Tyler Thompson faced 47 shots in defeat for the Iron Rangers.
