3-point night for Egan as Miners defeat Iron Rangers

COCHENOUR, Ont. – Cole Egan scored twice and helped set-up another as the English River Miners went on to defeat the Minnesota Iron Rangers 7-2 Saturday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest at Cochenour Arena.

The Miners picked up the lone goal of the opening period on Matt O’Neill’s sixth of the season at 4:15.

Egan added to the English River lead in the second before David Brennan’s first SIJHL goal midway through the contest put the Iron Rangers on the board.

A three-goal outburst in a six-minute span later in the frame by the home side broke the game open however as Dante Rapposo, Austin Kuhn, Michael Di Lullo all found the back of the net.

Steven Spencer did have one for Minnesota at 18:12.

English River put it away in the third on efforts by Egan and Sidney Gladue’s 20th of the season to round out the scoring.

Michael Lenko picked up the win for the Miners making 31 stops along the way.

Sean Angle faced 39 shots in defeat for the Iron Rangers.
